HOVERAir’s campaign was driven by two primary goals: continually improve upon the field of aerial photography and help reimagine the experience of crowdfunding. Having already introduced the first version of HOVERAir the prior year, the team was driven by their users’ enthusiasm and dreams for new features to bring their next iteration to market. Secondly, they aimed to utilize Indiegogo’s Shipping Guarantee program to position their campaign more as a pre-sale opportunity rather than a traditional crowdfunding effort. This strategy involved committing to a fixed shipping date upfront, which lead to some anxious moments and critical learnings as manufacturing unfolded.

Throughout the campaign, HOVERAir learned valuable lessons about production scalability and logistics. The overwhelming demand required them to pull back advertisements to meet their commitment to crowdfunding backers. Despite challenges, such as ensuring global certifications and navigating holiday season logistics, they successfully delivered their product within two months, demonstrating their operational resilience.
