An Introduction to Selling on the Indiegogo Marketplace

The Indiegogo Marketplace is an online storefront where entrepreneurs can sell their ready-to-ship products — whether they’ve run a crowdfunding campaign or not. It’s the latest part of Indiegogo’s mission to help founders and makers get their creations into enthusiastic hands.

Indiegogo launched almost 10 years ago to unite people around the innovative ideas that inspire them and make those ideas into reality. We help entrepreneurs build an audience, find partners that will help them succeed and get funding even after their crowdfunding journey is complete. Regardless of where a product is in its lifecycle, Indiegogo connects entrepreneurs with people that love innovation, and Marketplace is a whole new way to extend that mission.

Accessing the Indiegogo audience

Indiegogo’s backers turn to Indiegogo to discover clever innovations they can’t find anywhere else. We’re committed to getting interesting new products into the hands of early adopters. Marketplace is designed to be a highly curated selection of ingenious products. It gives entrepreneurs a chance to sell to people who didn’t get in on the initial crowdfunding phase. It’s also a place to get exposure for your products even if you didn’t originally crowdfund your project on Indiegogo.

The
Voyage Pillow originally got its start crowdfunding on a different platform, but they made the transition to Indiegogo to raise additional funds on Indiegogo InDemand and eventually sell their finished product on the Indiegogo Marketplace. The idea for the Voyage Pillow is a simple one: a better portable pillow for getting restful sleep while traveling. “I was absolutely hooked on traveling but hated actually getting to the location and losing a day from horrible sleep on the plane,” said Mat Benedetto, the founder of Sondre Travel. “I became determined to find a better solution for sleeping on the go.” Now, the pillow is being sold to a completely new audience and doing better than ever. Martha Stewart even called it a must-have travel accessory.

An ecommerce platform for innovators

The Indiegogo Marketplace is our very own ecommerce offering for groundbreaking, one-of-a-kind products. It’s a storefront for you to sell your finished product in perpetuity. And since so many crowdfunded Indiegogo projects are innovative and unique, it’s not a surprise that lots of the products on the Marketplace were crowdfunded on Indiegogo. It’s a great place for backers to find some of the projects they supported in development.

Ultraloq
, a customizable smart lock from Anviz Technology, started out as an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign back when it was still in development. Now, its creators are selling ready-to-ship products via Indiegogo Marketplace. Ultraloq, which can be used with a fingerprint, code, key, or smartphone, received rave reviews in the press. “Our biggest obstacle was letting more people know about Ultraloq,” said Clark Ruan, VP of Business Development at Anviz Technology. “Fortunately, we found Indiegogo!”

Exposure for entrepreneurs

Making something that’s never existed before is a long road with many phases. The final, and perhaps most exciting, phase is selling the finished product you worked so hard on. Marketplace celebrates that victory — even for entrepreneurs who have never run a crowdfunding campaign. We created a place for innovative companies to get exposure to new audiences, regardless of how those companies got their start.

Even though they didn’t run a crowdfunding campaign, Indiegogo Marketplace was the ideal place for Schatzii to introduce the
BULLET True Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds and three other innovative products to a new market. The company was founded to create tech products that are both functional and stylish. Their earbuds, which ēgō magazine dubbed “the kind of gadget James Bond would wear,” were a perfect fit for the Indiegogo Marketplace. “Indiegogo Marketplace is different from other ecommerce sites because it caters to everybody looking for new, interesting things that can’t be found anywhere else,” said Peter Tsou, Schatzii’s Founder and CEO.

Clever stuff for curious humans

Indiegogo is excited to bring more great ready-to-ship products to its community of backers and to open up its platform to entrepreneurs at every stage of product development. No matter how your product came into existence, Indiegogo Marketplace showcases the innovative, interesting, clever items made especially for curious humans.
